With the safety and well-being of our students as a top priority, we recognize that strong mental health plays an important role in a student's growth and success. Southwest offers a variety of services and supports to meet the mental health and wellness needs of our students.

Support Dogs
Our support dogs help to improve mood, decrease anxiety and provoke laughter and enjoyment. These dogs can teach compassion and respect.
School Based Therapy
It is important that our students are healthy physically and mentally so they can perform their best each day. Strong mental health and wellness plays a critical role and if students are struggling with mental health concerns, for example, chronic stress, anxiety and/or depression we’ve partnered with Best Point Behavioral Health. Mindpeace
In addition to their network of school-based providers, MindPeace also manages a comprehensive community database of all the mental health providers in our region, along with other helpful resources to meet the needs of students and their families. Hope Squad
A national school-based suicide prevention program, Hope Squad members are students nominated by their peers. Members are trained to identify at-risk students, provide friendships and seek help from an adult. Hope Squad is available in grades 6-12.

Parent Guidance
Check out the FREE and confidential website for families, ParentGuidance.org. This site was developed by licensed therapists that provides trusted and specialized courses, professional support, and a safe community for parents, to learn how to support your child. Parents can also get answers to mental health questions, including anxiety, depression, self-worth, grief and loss, suicide ideation, family strife and other mental health concerns. Popular courses you may want to explore are: “Parenting with a Purpose” and “Unlocking your Inner Parent Superhero.” The courses within ParentGuidance.org will provide you with tools to form stronger bonds with your children.
