Dear Crosby Parents and Guardians,

The new school year is just around the corner, and we could not be more excited to get back to educating your child!

Please take a moment to read the information below regarding beginning of the year information as well as some important dates throughout the school year.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

NEW FACES / NAMES

  • Ms. Jester is now Mrs. Bunnell. Congratulations on her summer wedding!
  • Ms. Brock (former 3rd) and Mrs. Naber (former 2nd) will be teaching Kindergarten this year.

  • Mrs. Guilfoyle is coming to us from MWE to team with Mrs. Guenther teaching ELA/SS.
  • Mrs. K. Miller will be out for the first semester on medical leave- Mrs. Graf will be her long-term sub. Mrs. Graf has done a number of long-term sub positions for us in the past. She has a degree in education and has former teaching experience.

Gifted Intervention Specialists

We are excited to welcome Mrs. Amy Baccei to Crosby Elementary. SAFETY

CAR RIDER DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP

Car riders can be dropped off starting at 8:00 a.m. at the front of the school. Please do not allow your child to get out of the car until 8:00 a.m. when there is supervision and a crossing guard. For security reasons, you may NOT walk your child to their classroom. We will have plenty of staff on hand in the first 2 weeks to help students find their way to their classroom if needed.

AM Kindergarten students can be picked up out front at 11:15 a.m. Buses will use Zone 1, so please park in Zone 2 or in the lot.

PM Kindergarten students can be dropped off between 12:05-12:10 in the front of the building in Zone 2. Please leave Zone 1 open for the buses for PM Kindergarten.

If your child is being picked up from school, you should arrive by 3:00 p.m. Two lines will be formed in the main lane next to the school, and a third lane will be formed in the first lane of the parking lot. If your child needs assistance from you getting in or out of the car, PLEASE park in the lot instead of getting in the lines. If your child is not in the car when we are ready to move traffic, we ask that you circle around and get back in line.

Students entering and exiting from the far lane will be required to use the crosswalk area down the middle of the lane. Please tell your child NOT to cut through the other lanes of cars to get to the sidewalk. Mr. Willig and other staff members will also be there to remind them.

See map here: 24-25 Car Rider Map.pdf

CHANGE IN AFTERNOON TRANSPORTATION

If you need to change the way your child gets home after school, please contact your child’s teacher with the information if you are aware of the change before the start of the school day.

If the change occurs within the current school day, first try contacting the teacher using their communication app. If you do not receive confirmation that the message was received by 1:30, call the office at 513-738-1717.

CALLING IN ABSENCES

To call in a student absence call 513-738-1717 and when prompted press 2 to leave a message.

 BREAKFAST AND LUNCH

Breakfast takes place each morning from 8:00-8:25 a.m. If your child is a car rider and plans on eating breakfast, please be sure to allow time for them to eat and leave the dining area by 8:25.

See Southwest Local Schools Food Service Website for information on breakfast and lunch: http://www.schoolnutritionandfitness.com/index.php?sid=1485211572028

ACADEMIC GROWTH

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

Mark your calendars! The first day of school is Thursday, August 15th! Kindergarten will have two phase-in days, see the information below.

Students can begin arriving at 8:00 a.m. with school starting at 8:30 a.m. Dismissal will take place at 3:00 p.m. Our bus riders are staggered and tend to run late the first few days of school. Please be patient with us while we get students home safely.

CLASS LIST POSTINGS

Class lists will be posted on Wednesday, August 7th at 4:00 p.m. on the front doors of Crosby Elementary. If you have not UPDATED your child’s Final Forms by August 6th, their name will NOT be on the list. If you need assistance accessing forms, Ms. Patty will be happy to help! Also, your child’s name will not be on the list if they still owe school fees from LAST school year- Ms. Patty sent you an email to remind you.

SOCIAL GROWTH

COUNSELING SERVICES

At Crosby Elementary, we have several levels of mental health support for students. Mrs. Lee, our full-time school counselor, is the first line of contact for any of your student’s social or emotional needs. We also partner with Best Point (formally Children’s Home) to offer school therapy to students. Best Point also offers Care Coordination to help parents in the home as well. A Best Point referral can be made by Mrs. Lee or by you as the parent or guardian:

Online – www.tchcincy.org or

Over the phone – 513-272-2800 Ask for the Intake Department

CROSBY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTO

One of the best ways for parents to remain involved with their children is through our PTO.  We are excited to welcome our families into this organization. Information will be available at Open House. Our PTO also graciously organizes all school parties, so you have to have access to their portal to sign-up to volunteer for all school parties.

MISCELLANEOUS

LOST AND FOUND

Please be sure to label items your child brings to school, such as lunch boxes, water bottles, jackets, sweatshirts, or any other item that could potentially end up in the Lost and Found. This year, we will be moving the lost and found to the area under the stairs at the bus dock exit. Our 5th grade leadership team will be organizing and returning items that are labeled. Items not collected at the end of each month will be donated to a local charity.
