Dear HJS Families,

As we approach Veterans Day, we are excited to announce a special event that Student Leadership students Conor Goodfriend and Madison Meibers are putting on this year named Project Stars and Stripes to honor our veterans and support a meaningful cause.

On Tuesday, November 12th, we are inviting local veterans to join us for a donut breakfast, where they will have the opportunity to share their stories with some of our students and answer any questions they may have. This is a wonderful chance for our students to learn directly from those who have served our country. We hope to make this a memorable experience for both our veterans and our students.

In addition to the breakfast, we will be hosting a Veterans Day assembly with a guest speaker to engage our students in hearing how serving our country has impacted the life of a veteran. At the assembly, we will also be raising funds for the Honor Flight Program, which helps send veterans to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C. To encourage participation, we are offering incentives for the class that raises the most money per student!

To show our school spirit and patriotism, we are asking that each grade wear the following colors to the assembly:
- **6th grade**: Red
- **7th grade**: White
- **8th grade**: Blue

We hope to see great support from our students and families as we come together to honor those who have served. More details will follow regarding donations and participation in the Honor Flight fundraiser.

If you are a veteran and would like to attend, please RSVP to Mr. McBee at brandon.mcbee@southwestschools.org

If you are a veteran who is willing to give a speech to our student body about your military experience and the impact it had on your life, please also email Mr. McBee at brandon.mcbee@southwwestschools.org.

Thank you for helping us celebrate Veterans Day and show our appreciation to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Sincerely,
Conor Goodfriend and Madison Meibers
